Life insurance for Alphagan users.
In this article, we wanted to take a moment to answer some of the most common questions we get from folks applying for life insurance after they have been prescribed Alphagan or its generic form Brimonidine to treat one of either two conditions including:
- Topical redness caused by rosacea,
- Or increased eye pressure caused by either open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Questions that will be directly addressed will include:
- Can I qualify for life insurance after I’ve been prescribed Alphagan?
- Why do life insurance companies care if I’ve been prescribed Alphagan?
- What kind of information will the insurance companies ask me or be interested in?
- What rate (or price) can I qualify for?
- What can I do to help ensure that I get the “best life insurance” for me?
So, without further ado, let’ dive right in!
Can I qualify for life insurance after I’ve been prescribed Alphagan?
For most individuals, the fact that you have been prescribed Alphagan should play no role in the outcome of your life insurance application. This is because, unlike many other “modern” medications, Alphagan is typically only prescribed to treat one or two different medical conditions, neither of which is considered much of a risk to most life insurance underwriters.
It’s also why…
Some may even be able to qualify for some of the best no medical exam life insurance policies at a Preferred rate!
Why do life insurance companies care if I’ve been prescribed Alphagan?
In general, most life insurance underwriters aren’t going to be all that concerned with the fact that you have been prescribed Alphagan. Sure, they will take notice of it when it appears on one’s prescription medication report, which is commonly ordered when someone applies for a traditional life insurance policy. Still, other than that, they’re not going to be too concerned about it.
What they will do, however…
Is ask you a series of questions to see if there might be some “other reason” why you may not be a reasonable risk for them to insure. And in some cases, these “questions” may lead them back into wanting to know a little be more about why you have been prescribed Alphagan.
What kind of information will the insurance companies ask me or be interested in?
Questions that most of the top life insurance companies may ask that could make them wonder a little bit more about your Alphagan prescription would most likely center around whether or not your open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension has caused any significant damage to your vision.
Now…
Most life insurance companies won’t just come out and ask an individual about their vision in cases like these; instead, they’ll look for signs that your vision may be impaired. Signs such as:
- Do you currently hold a valid driver’s license?
- Do you currently drive?
- In the past 12 months, have you had any issues with your driver’s license? Issues such as multiple moving violations, a DUI, or a suspended license?
- Are you currently working now?
- In the past 12 months, have you applied for or received any form of disability benefits?
What rate (or price) can I qualify for?
Now assuming that you’re not currently going blind as a result of your pre-existing medical condition and that you’re not currently receiving any kind of disability benefits as a result of your condition, in general, what we have found is that assuming you would otherwise be eligible, you should still be considered eligible for either a Preferred or Preferred Plus rate!
“Which is great!”
But…
We should point out that there are many factors that come into play when determining what “kind” of “rate” an individual may or may not be able to qualify for. And while it may seem like one’s Alphagan may be the only “issue” you might have on your life insurance application, the truth is something that you never even considered may be the TRUE determinant of what rate you ultimately end up qualifying for.
This leads us to the next topic that we wanted to take a moment and discuss here today, which is…
What can I do to help ensure that I get the “best life insurance” for me?
Because life insurance companies tend to use a lot of “random” factors in determining who the will and won’t insure, and at what price, we here at IBUSA have found that the “best” way for us to be able to ensure that our clients are able to find the “best” life insurance policy that they can qualify for is to be sure to know our STUFF and offer a TON of options.
You see…
By only employing true life insurance professionals who have tons of experience helping folks with all sorts of pre-existing medical conditions and then providing them with tons of options to offer their clients, we here at IBUSA truly do offer a one-stop-shop for folks looking to protect their family.
Now, will we be able to help out everyone who has been prescribed Alphagan?
No, probably not. But what we can tell you is that in addition to offering a wide variety of different term and whole life insurance policies, IBUSA has also worked very hard to establish relationships with many of the Best Final Expense Insurance Companies as well.
This way…
If someone isn’t able to qualify for a traditional life insurance policy, chances are there may be some other “type” of product that you CAN qualify for.
